October’s New Books
New Books October!! Every month, publishers unveil hundreds of new books! For book nerds like me, it’s kinda like Christmas, haha! But, keeping up with what’s coming out is hard! That’s what I’m here for! I’ve culled through the long list of books coming out this month. And as a result, have come up with a list of my favorite new books coming out in October. And while this list certainly isn’t exhaustive, it will hopefully give you a good list to look through!
October has some great books coming out!! For starters, the next Illustrated Edition of the Harry Potter series is due out – absolutely gorgeous!! And, many series have their next book coming out this month. There’s even a new book for Winnie the Pooh fans!
Hopefully, there’s something for everyone 🙂

Elementary
How to Catch an Elf by Adam Wallace due out 10/4

Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall: take a trip back to the Hundred Acre Wood with a collection of tales sure to delight year-round.
One story finds Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet on a quest to discover the “Sauce of the Nile” (they suspect it’s apple). And in another, all the animals rally around poor Eeyore when he thinks he sees another donkey eyeing his clover. Readers of all ages will love rediscovering old friends and making new ones in this essential new volume of Pooh stories.

Harry Potter
Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets, Illustrated Edition by J.K Rowling due out 10/4
The Dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.
And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls’ bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley’s younger sister, Ginny.

Ever After High
Ever After High #6: Fairy Tail Ending by Suzanne Selfors due out 10/4
The sixth fableous book in Suzanne Selfors’ Ever After High: A School Story series.

Iron Man
Iron Man: The Gauntlet by Eoin Colfer due out 10/25

The town of Journey’s End may not literally be at the end of the world, but it sure feels like it to Nolie Stanhope. Brown Girl Dreaming
Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson due out 10/11
Raised in South Carolina and New York, Woodson always felt halfway home in each place. In vivid poems, she shares what it was like to grow up as an African American in the 1960s and 1970s, living with the remnants of Jim Crow and her growing awareness of the Civil Rights movement. Touching and powerful, each poem is both accessible and emotionally charged, each line a glimpse into a child’s soul as she searches for her place in the world. Woodson’s eloquent poetry also reflects the joy of finding her voice through writing stories, despite the fact that she struggled with reading as a child. Her love of stories inspired her and stayed with her, creating the first sparks of the gifted writer she was to become.

What Light
What Light by Jay Asher due out 10/18
Sierra’s family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon it’s a bucolic setting for a girl to grow up in, except that every year, they pack up and move to California to set up their Christmas tree lot for the season. So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other.
Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other.
By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb’s past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love.
