harry potterIf you’ve read the Harry Potter series and liked it, but need something new to read – here’s some suggestions:

  1. The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson series) by Rick Riordan.  Percy is the son of Poseidon and trying to save the world from an angry god.  Action, adventure and Greek gods!
  2. Inkheart (Inkworld series) by Cornelia Funke.   Meggie is right in the middle of an adventure and must figure out how to harness the magic she has unleashed!
  3. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.  Jacob discovers an abandoned orphanage on a lonely Welsh island, but is it really abandoned or are all the children still there.
  4. The Alchemyst by Michael Scott .  Nearly 700 years after his birth, Nicholas Flamel still lives, and Dr. John Dee is trying to steal the book that contains the secret to eternal life.
  5. Cinder (the Lunar chronicles) by Marissa Meyer .   Loosely based on fairy tales, Cinder is a cyborg trying to save the world from an evil space queen.
  6. The Map to Everywhere by Carrie Ryan.   Magic, wizards and pirates trying to find the Map to Everywhere that will control the Pirate Stream.
  7. Gregor the Overlander (the Underland chronicles) by Suzanne Collins .  Gregor and his little sister accidentally find an entire city below New York City and war is brewing…
  8. Five Kingdoms series by Brandon Mull.  Cole’s friend is kidnapped and transported to another world.  In his quest to find his friend, Cole must battle unraveling magic and evil soldiers.
  9. Ranger’s Apprentice series by John Flanagan.  Epic battles, lots of adventures and trying to defeat evil!
